Greetings from the President
We have had some wonderful events take place during National Poetry
Month this April and will continue to focus on poetry and readings
for this years Meredith Awardee for Poetry, Gray Jacobik.
Her book, THE BANQUET
was launched during a beautiful reading and reception at the Bulgarian
Embassy in Washington, on April 15th.
Mayor Michael Passero
Proclaimed April 22nd as William Meredith Day in the City of New
London. On that day, Gray gave a beautiful reading at Connecticut
College with introductions by me and Ct. Poet Laureate, Rennie
McQuilkin. Valentin Krustev conducted an extensive interview with
me on the Meredith celebrations which can be found at the following
link in the Archive section of the website. Here is a photo of
the Mayors proclamation on the 18th.
This summer, we continue
to celebrate the 2016 Meredith winner at readings at the Courtyard
Gallery in Mystic, July 11, the Savoy Book Store in Westerly,
R.I. on August 17th, and the Writers Center in Bethesda along
with Michael Collier on September 11th. Ill be sending more
detailed information shortly on these events.
Meanwhile, we wish you
all the pleasures of summer and hope that poetry will be high
on the list.
Best regards, Richard
